Common questions

The things people ask before they call.

If your question is not covered here, get in touch and we will be happy to discuss your site or project.

What areas does Geard cover?
Geard is based in Berkshire and works across the South of England. Commercial grounds, parks, private estates, farms and smallholdings, and larger private gardens are all within the working area. If you are not sure whether a site is in range, call and ask.
What landscaping services does Geard provide?
Geard provides six services: commercial landscaping; parks and estate maintenance; estates, smallholdings and productive landscapes; brickwork; landscape planning and project delivery; and build and installation. Many projects combine several of them, which lets GEARD coordinate the works as one project from start to finish, bringing in specialist skills where required.
Is Geard insured?
Yes. Geard holds public liability and employers' liability insurance, and certificates are available on request. GEARD LTD is registered in England and Wales, company number 16203775.
Does Geard work for commercial clients?
Yes. Commercial landscaping is one of Geard's six services, covering business premises, communal grounds, developments and other high-traffic outdoor spaces. The work is run to an agreed schedule rather than as call-outs, and timed around the working week.
Does Geard work on farms and smallholdings?
Yes. Geard works with owners of private estates, farms and smallholdings who want to develop their land into something more productive. That covers the practical works: site preparation and irrigation, access and fencing, growing areas, raised beds and orchards. Geard is a landscape contractor rather than an agricultural or organic farming consultant, so the job is delivering the plans you have for the land rather than advising on what to farm.
How does Geard quote for work?
For most projects, a site visit allows us to understand the ground properly and provide an accurate quotation. Photographs, drawings or tender information are a useful starting point and can be enough for an initial indication, particularly on commercial work. Either way you get a price and a programme in writing, and for maintenance the year can be set out in advance: what happens, when, and what it costs.
